COVID: It's always been about risk/reward
But precious few had the capacity to think about it this way
So....I've done my best to navigate covid with a good bit of reserve. I'm usually pretty good at sensing trends at a gut level, often before I have a ton of reasonable information, but if folks are trusting me ass any type of “authority” in helping to navigate health decisions, I try to stay within some well defined lane lines. I'm not always right on stuff like this, but I'll ditch my self deprecating tendencies for a moment and say I'm right far more often than I'm wrong when looking at these complex, long-arc topics.
When we were told that the ONLY solution before us was to put all faith into a vaccine, in a class of viruses that have never seen a successful vaccine, I knew fuckery was afoot. Is that a scientific perspective? Likely not, but this is akin to walking down the street and knowing someone has ill-intent for you. This is Observation. Hypothesis and Testing can (and should) follow and suddenly, we have something that sniffs like science.
You are either clueless about that situation or you trust your gut. I trust my gut, but I constantly test what I’m feeling with what the data seems to be presenting.
It was right about this time, nearly two years ago, that some very smart people began ringing alarm bells that vaccinating mid-pandemic, with what appeared to be a non-sterilizing ("leaky") vaccine (transfection actually...) could be disastrous. A host of predictions were made around two important immunological phenomena:
1-Original Antigenic Sin
2-Antibody Dependent Enhancement
Specific predictions were made with the two factors noted above. Those predictions appear to be coming to pass. the vaccinated appear to be faring worsse than the unvaccinated, the more "bosted" one is the worse the outcomes....ohyea, and things also seem to be getting worse for kids, all part of the preddictions made by folks like Geert Vanden Bossche:
Quick interpretation: The more vaccinated you are, it appears the worse things go for you. This is correlation, it could simply be that the sickest get the most vaccines, but it’s also clearly not a miracle at preventing severe illness and death…you know, the stuff we were assured vaccines (transactions) would solve. OH, yea, one more thing: literally EVERY DAMN PERSON who got really sick or died had significant co-morbidities. Yet metabolic health is still nowhere to be seen in the popular discussion of covid. the folks in charge are still hashing around about masks and in some cases, vaccinating every 4-6 months….even though its POSSIBLE that the more vaccinated you are, the more prone to problems you become…
By contrast, the Covidians told us that so long as we get vaccinated, all would be good. And yes, I know, many will circle (jerk) around this point and say "but not everyone got the jab!" Yea, and that does not matter if the damn vaccine (transfection) is leaky. It may be that the dwindling pool of unvaccinated may be far more precious than anyone is willing to admit at this point. I’ll have more on that later.
My position on all of this was one of risk/reward considerations. I suspected early on that there would be some very clear cases in which transfection would be a win, some in which the danger would likely make the application too risky (virtually all young people...) and a muddy middle ground where the real handwringing would occur. One common thread through all of that was my insistence that good metabolic health was the gold standard in mitigating downside risk. That was a safe, reasonable position to take and one which allowed for a bit of distance to allow predictive models such as OAS/ADE to carve out some acreage.
The powers that be, most of the gate keepers and the woke virtue signalers did not take any type of an empirically driven position. They abdicated all thought, logic, reason, and jesus-h-christ, HUMANITY in favor of cow-towing to folks who have lied, manipulated and suppressed at every turn (lab leak, gain of function on and on and on).
I'm not cranky if you had questions...none of this has been easy or straight forward. Many folks have been manipulated/cohered in ways that are likely, no-fracking-joke, crimes against humanity (see Maajid Nawaz work on this...given that he was imprisoned and tortured for several years, he can speak to this in ways few can). I am cranky if, from this day forward, every part of this story and frankly most of our lives, is not articulated in the perspective of risk/reward. If one is not aware of the competing hypothesis and able to weight what we see so far...by God, you might be the enemy, no matter your good intentions or virtue signaling.
I knew the media and health industrial complex was out over its skis after the Diamond Princess (a worst case scenario: floating close quarters incubator) revealed a fatality rate of about 0.3%. Everything from that moment forward was a lack-of-context horror show of Salem Witch Trial level mass hysteria. Only in the last few months have people started to sober up to the reality that perhaps they were taken for a ride.
You echo my early thoughts regarding a supposedly safe and effective vax for a coronavirus. I waited (and am still waiting) for solid proof. When real data was suppressed and the only way out was an experimental vax, seemed very suspicious to me. All risk and likely no reward is my expectation.
